Terminology

I'm still very new to the entire "Natural Hair" situation. I've found that there are so many terms for your hair and certain procedures when it comes to natural hair. I'm positive that I will be updataing this list more and more as I learn and discover new things with my hair. So I will be updating this particular post very often. I may even make it a page all by its self here on my blog because I've found it to be very useful so I'll share it with you guys. If you have more terms for me to add be sure to leave the word and the definition in the comment section and I will add it.

What does "natural" mean?

It means to be completely chemical free. Free from texurizers, relaxers, permanent waves, jerry curls ect. It means when the hair is in it's purest form.

What does "transition" mean?

Transition is the period of transition from the time you decide to stop relaxing your hair, to having 100% natural hair.

What is a TWA?

TWA stands for Teeny Weeny Afro and is the first stage after a big chop. Not everyone goes throught the TWA stage. If you did a transition and wore protective styles for a while before you actually cut your hair, 9 times out of 10 you did not have to go through the TWA phase. Usually you have 2 inches or less in that stage.

What is a Big Chop?

When you decide to cut your chemically treated hair off and go chemical free.

What is a BAA?

BAA stands for Big A** Afro (not a term I would use but I hear it a lot)

What does it mean to "stretch" the hair?

When you have wet hair and use a method such as wrapping to stretch the hair out so it dries with more length.

What is a "no poo" ?

It stands for the "no shampoo method" .It's when you wash your hair you don't use shampoo. This method is popular with natural hair, because traditional shampoos, especially those containing sulfates, will dry out the hair.

What does ''co-wash''mean?

Simply when you wash your hair with conditioner only; no shampoo.

What is "shrinkage" ?

It's when the hair shrinks up when it's dry.

Pretty Pink Or Purple

Let me begin by saying this is a shadow blend that I did on my 12 year old daughter so don't expect her eye brows to be arched or anything like that. This was done strictly so that I could show you a blend that I love. This was done with my Ultra Shimmer 88 Eye Shadow Palette from Coastal Scents. This palatte is amazing! I'll be doing a review on that in the future. But Back to the blend, I used the Pink and gold for this look and Pink, purple, blue, gold and white for the look below. This was a really quick job. I didn't have much time to perfect it but I will be posting more soon. Smooches xoxo

I'm an independent recording artist so I need cosmetics that will hold up underlights and cameras and MAC does the job. So take a look at this video about eye shaping. This is a must do if you want to achieve the perfect look when it comes to eye shadows and application.

Skin Care

Ok so today I want talk about skin care. If you are anything like me you have to be very careful what you put on your skin. My skin is very sensitive. So I was delighted to find a skin care product that didn't break me out! When you wear make-up you HAVE to be sure to take care of your skin. That includes the proper application of make-up as well as the proper cleansing of the skin after it's worn. You I can't say this enough; you have to moisturize, moisturize! You have to take care of that pretty face?! People ask me all the time what I use on my face. So I'll let you in on one of my secrets. Today I am going to review a product that I have found that is simply amazing! I've been using it for about 3 years now and it's awesome!
Before you attempt to use any products on your skin be sure to do a patch test to check for any allergic contents. The product I use is called L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise Refinish Micro-Dermabrasion Kit. It's just what you need to ensure that all of that make-up and built up dead skin is removed. The MOST you should use this product is 3 times a week. The Micro-Dermabrasion is very sensitive. You'll find that some micro-dermabrasion kits have really thick and heavy grains in it. If you come across those it's very bad for your skin. L'Oreal's kit has very sensitive small grains. It almost feel like beach sand. It's abrasive enough to get the job done.
Microdermabrasion is one of the best skin resurfacing treatments and no wonder it's one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment. Microdermabrasion is more than skin exfoliation, but it is gentler that chemical peel for example. Unlike dermabrasion, microdermabrasion doesn't use hard diamond fraise and doesn't leave the skin open and red for a few days afterwards. It involves small, micronised aluminum oxide crystals. After the procedure the skin look brighter, feels clean and soft, fine lines and wrinkles seem less pronounced, pores are refined, pigmentation is faded.
Here are the steps:

Step One. Clean your face as usual with a mild facial cleanser. Make sure you have removed all traces of makeup and oils. There is no need to apply a toner.
Step Two. Use the microdermabrasion lotion and gently begin to massage the cream into your wet skin. Massage gently for two/ three minutes and make sure you have covered all areas of your face.
Step Three. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and wash.
Step Four. Apply the post-microdermabrasion moisturizer or lotion.
? After microdermabrasion your skin may look slightly red in the first hours but it is normal.
? You can get back to your daily routine immediately after the treatment.
? Microdermabrasion is effective on all skin types, colors and ages.
? You can apply makeup immediately after microdermabrasion treatment.
? At-home microdermabrasion treatment is typically performed in two/ three minutes.
? Always follow the instructions written on the box.
? Do not perform microdermabrasion on irritated or damaged skin.
? Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure a week after microdermabrasion treatment.

Some of the healthy benefits of using this productd are:
? promotes new cell growth
? reduces age spots, pigmentation spots
? unclogs pores
? tightens and smoothes the skin
? refines pores
? stimulates the production of collagen and elastin
? stimulates blood circulation
? reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
? improves the overall appearance of the skin
? smoothes rough textured skin
? minimizes the appearance of large pores and scarring
? gives the skin a healthy-looking glow
? rejuvenates the skin
? enhances the penetration of skincare products
? revitalizes dull skin
? controls acne

The product I use is called L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise Refinish Micro-Dermabrasion Kit. It?s just what you need to ensure that all of that make-up and built up dead skin is removed. The MOST you should use this product is 3 times a week. The Micro-Dermabrasion is very sensitive. You?ll find that some micro-dermabrasion kits have really thick and heavy grains in it. If you come across those it?s very bad for your skin. L?Oreal?s kit has very sensitive small grains. It almost feel like beach sand. It?s abrasive enough to get the job done.
Microdermabrasion is one of the best skin resurfacing treatments and no wonder it?s one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment. Microdermabrasion is more than skin exfoliation, but it is gentler that chemical peel for example. Unlike dermabrasion, microdermabrasion doesn?t use hard diamond fraise and doesn?t leave the skin open and red for a few days afterwards.
